SuperYacht Times acquires The International Superyacht Summit in Dubai
24th May 2022SuperYacht Times is pleased to announce the acquisition of The International Superyacht Summit in Dubai from Fabulous Yachts. Launched in 2018, a two-day summit is an annual event that seeks to inform, assist and advise yachting clients and related interested parties, with the goal to develop the Gulf as a superyacht winter destination.
“I am very honoured that we can continue the work of Fabulous Yachts founder Tony Crabbe. Together with Hamza Mustafa and Fabiana Maccarini of P&O Marinas he has created the most important platform to discuss and create action plans to take yachting in the region to the next stage”
SYT founder Merijn de Waard.
Since its launch in 2018, The International Superyacht Summit has gratefully benefitted from the patronage and support of P&O Marinas, a DP World Company, who hosted the summit in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.”The International Superyacht Summit grew from a belief that the UAE was not capitalising on its tremendous potential to become a superyacht destination. We have now reached “critical mass” and this is no longer the question, says Capt. Tony Crabbe, Founder of the Summit. “Now it is time to ensure that we become not only a destination but the destination of choice. The project has now grown beyond my ability to do it justice and it is thus a great pleasure to hand over to Merijn de Waard of SuperYacht Times to continue what has been a most productive association with P&O Marinas.”
“The Gulf region is of growing importance to the superyacht industry. Dubai has some of the biggest marina developments in the world and the annual Formula 1 event in Abu Dhabi attracts a large crowd of superyachts. A growing number of yachts are using the UAE as a hub from where they travel further east to places like the Seychelles, Maldives, Indonesia and Thailand. With some huge projects underway in the Red Sea by Saudi Arabia, one can only predict that even more yachts will travel east in the winter.“We would like to thank Captain Tony Crabbe for creating the Summit and his commitment to make the Gulf region a superyacht winter destination. We are very happy that SuperYacht Times has taken over the Summit, which P&O Marinas will continue to support”

With a lot of new wealth being created in this market sector, the region will also be of growing importance to yacht builders and brokers looking to engage with new clients.
The last edition of The International Superyacht Summit was held in December 2021 and we will soon announce plans for the next edition. We are also very pleased that Tony has agreed to continue to support the event as an advisor to the SuperYacht Times team.
